Celebrations :: Anniversary

sept30Seven years ago today, Kevin and I decided to jump into the deep end and make our relationship official. How the times flies! The summer was about to end and we were just about to start the beginning of our sophomore year of college (Go Ducks!). I look at him and think how lucky I am to have such a patient (very, patient…) and loving husband. Here’s to the wonderful people (you!) in our lives. Have a wonderful day!

Wedding Dress Wednesday :: Break

sept30I am taking a much needed break. It has been hectic around the Cleys’ household, so I haven’t had much time to scour da internets to find a fabulous collection of gowns. I promise next week will come in strong and won’t disappoint. Have a lovely day! See you in a bit!

sept29Toms Shoes give me the chills. The good kind. This company was created in 2006 and is based on the prem ise that every child should have a pair of shoes. So for every pair you buy, Toms will donate a pair. Well for starters, I am already digging their driving force. In addition to their feel-good moto, their selection includes canvas, vegan and a special occasion line-up. Slip your toes into one of these glittery babies and get ready to dance the night away. Or pick out a blue pair to cross off the “something blue” on your list.

sept23There is something utterly romantic about the Greek Isles. Celebrate your love next to jewel toned green and blue waters, between crisp white buildings and with a love from another world. Or if you don’t want a destination trip, try on a dress that will elevate you to another level. This week’s collection is inspired from mythical goddesses. Float around and peruse the options and please enjoy the view.

1) Venetian Vixen: Glamourous and fitting, this silk sheath gown will drape the body magnificently. Gold rhinestones embellish the straps and form an X over the v-neckline. The dare-to-bare back reveals thin gold detailed straps and a pre-bustled train, ready for a goddess on the go. (Amy Michelson; $3200)

2) Garden of Gaia: The crepe back statin is draped loosely into a scoop neckline. Mini rosettes nestled in the loose pickups of the skirt. A deep v-back dips down around the natural waist. (Elizabeth Fillmore; $3500)

3) Celestial Being: Decorative broad pleated straps form a v-neckline. The empire waistline gives rise to an a-line skirt that flows until eternity. Silk Georgette has a lustrous sheen to the fabric allowing the fabric to appear light and sheer. (Nicole Miller; $1500)

4) Divinely Devoted: This ethereal gown is made of light and airy tulle. Empire waist elongates the body while the skirt naturally flows down like gentle waterfall. Coils of tulle shape giant roses on the hemline, creating an illusion of a cloud around the feet of the bride. (Vera Wang; $5500)

5) Classic Couture: Demand attention with this ever-stylish v-neck a-line dress. Twisted rope-like straps are reminiscent of days of antiquity. Silk dupioni and beaded detailing around the waist make this a classy option. (Manuel Mota; $2200)

6) Simply Supreme: Empire waist dress made of Italian cotton and silk elegantly hangs on the body. Thin and feminine straps extend from the v-neckline. Sweet details like covered buttons and sash make gown an easy choice for the no-fuss bride who just wants to be on cloud 9. (J Crew; $650)

Local :: Kim + Phil Photography

sept21Kim + Phil Photography are the new kids on the block. This energetic duo traded their hectic LA life for the grass is always greener* PDX (*no harsh toxic chemicals are used in our grass and we receive a bajillon months of rain, thus, our grass will literally always be greener). Their lens captures the spirit of the moment and spills out a thousand descriptive words. Packages start at $1500 and that is no exaggeration. Check out a few image captures of their recent work.

sept16In March, I did a post on Dresses Under $500 Dollars and it was a hit. To this day, I still receive requests for Wedding Dress Wednesday to do a feature on dresses that are affordable. This week’s collection is about being easy on the budget without skimping on style. I hope you enjoy it!

Wedding dresses Under 1000 dollars

1) Sequin and Destroy: Elaborate crystal beading, sequins and embroidered lace adorn the entire bodice of the dress. A natural waist and full silk skirt add simpleness to this exquisite dress. (Piccione)

2) Slim Jim: This svelte silhouette has a iridescent tulle overlay. The v-neck creates instant sensuality to the a-line gown with spaghetti straps. (Mia Solano)

3) Pick Me Up Princess: Ornate beading details the top of the bodice. The ballgown skirt features asymmetrical pickups draw the luxurious satin in romantic gathers.  (Sottero & Midgley)

4) Dominating Dame: This assertive silk number has a ruched waistline and a-line skirt. The wide straps create a v-neckline and covers up any sinful skin slackage. A swanky satin bow adds some back appeal to this lovely gown. (Oleg Cassini)

5) Pleasing Pleats: A pleated bust and pleated peek-a-boo hem makes this gown full of panache. A jeweled deep v-back compliments a toned back. (Saison Blanche Boutique)

6) Drop Everything: A ruched dropped waist conforms to the body’s curves. The skirt flares at the thigh and flows to a chapel train in the back. A thick satin ribbon embellishes the waist. (Wtoo)

7) Optical Illusion: The trumpet skirt has gussets to add flounce and volumn to the skirt without making it look like a ballroom shape. The tulle overlay on the bodice reaches around the neck in a halter. (Galina)

8) Sweet Tiers: The modified sweetheart neckline is sweetly paired with a-line silhouette. The re-embroidered Alencon lace is sprinkled with glass beads and sequins. The tiers billow at the feet into a  semi-cathedral train. (Emerald Bridal)
